- 365 Days
- Personal and just great. My highlight for this month. Federico reminds us that “We often lose track of the magic of software.” And indeed, with this short post he succeeded in reminding me by putting it into a meaningful context. I’ve been tinkering and tweaking away 24/7 the last few days trying to get my mobile blogging ready and this little wake-up call reminded me that there a more important things happening around me. It’s called life. At least that’s what I decided to take with me from his 273 words. Note to self: get started with Day One.
- Unibox
- Another new contender which steps into the ring to be your next email client on the Mac.
- Shuttle
- Shuttle brings SSH Shortcuts to the menubar. Click a connection and a Terminal window opens and you get logged in. Neat extra: it adopted all my Coda SSH configurations on the initial start and it supports my new favorite: iTerm 2. If you’re a Terminal user and prefer the occasional mouse click rather than using aliases this could be an app for you.
- DevJuice: Embed shell commands in an .app wrapper and other dev command line tricks
- App wrappers for shell scripts. A little box of tricks (also check the two comments).
- Glyphish
- New UI glam for iOS 7. √
- Cache Google Maps for offline access on iOS
- An instruction about how to make it happen on your smartphone or tablet. PS: I really, really loath the auto-starting sponsor video that they integrated lately. Why Macworld, oh why? … so annoying.
- PhoneClean Free Download Page
- I would dub it CleanMyiPhone. A “trustworthy” German blog claimed that it even works flawless with iOS 7 with the latest release. I was dumb enough to try it and had to reset my phone.
- Honest In-App Purchases - David Smith
- Two ideas how the make IAP’s better.
- Authentic Design
- No comment. Or more precise to little room for a comment.
- andreafabrizi/Dropbox-Uploader
- BASH scriptcipt that makes good use of cURL and uses the official Dropbox API.
- USB 3.1 spec finalized, horns in on Thunderbolt’s turf with 10Gbps speeds
- As long as Thunderbolt is getting a higher adoption rate I’m not worried. The thing is this won’t happen over night. So far only the pro market is half-way eager to jump in. But who knows, maybe the new Thunderbolt update and more retina displays will accelerate the adoption rate.
- life of a stranger who stole my phone
- Laura’s iPhone was stolen on her vacation in Ibiza. At Thanks to iCloud sync the whole world can now enjoy the private pictures of the guy who might have stolen her phone.
- GameBoy Programming Manual
- Nintendo. I sure hope you stay around another 14 years.
- Misfit Wearables
- It’s the year of personal fitness trackers. The shine now ships after a successful Kickstarter campaign. What I like about it is that you can track cycling and swimming stats with it. I wish my Pulse could do this. By the way, this gadget looks sleek.
